Here at Devon Carers, we support over 30,000 unpaid carers, ensuring their health and wellbeing is taken care of.

Devon Carers is a service delivered by Westbank and is one of the largest and most successful carer’s services in the UK. One of these services includes our Hospital Services Team, who have honorary contracts with the NHS to provide an intensive 6-week support service to family, friends and unpaid carers when either they, or the person they look after, has been discharged from hospital. The aim of the team is to work with the hospitals in Devon to help avoid admissions, re-admissions, and help make the caring role more sustainable for the future. This service has been nationally recognised and has recently won a prestigious NHS Health Service Journal Award.

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Hospital Services Team Leader to support our dedicated team of Hospital Support and Liaison Workers ensuring unpaid carers receive timely and effective assistance.

**The Role**

No two days are the same for a Hospital Services Team Leader; the work we do is hugely varied. Here is a taster of what your role will include:
Supporting the Hospital Services Manager with day-to-day line management and support to a team of Hospital Liaison Workers and Hospital Support Workers, ensuring all staff effectively deliver the contracted services for unpaid carers;
Supporting the team by holding a caseload and also taking on some of the more complex casework;
Supporting with recruitment, induction and probationary reviews, as well as ongoing performance and development for all team members;
Working closely with Hospital Staff at all levels to ensure an effective service is delivered for both unpaid carers as well as hospital staff and processes;

**The Person**

Previous experience/qualifications:

- Evidence of experience of overseeing staff and motivating teams within the Health & Social care field/or relevant role.
- Evidence of an understanding of carers and their needs under the Care Act.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with the ability to empathise with the needs of carers.
- Evidence of experience of assessing and meeting client’s needs (including emotional) through support planning over short term interventions.
- Evidence of commitment to working in a way that is carer-led and carer-focussed, ensuring services are of the highest quality.
- Evidence of excellent administration, organisational and record-keeping skills, and ability to write in a clear, concise and professional manner.
- Evidence of experience flexibly working from office and home, ensuring ability to prioritise work.
- Car driver/owner (or otherwise able to satisfy, with appropriate adjustments, requirements for travel associated with the role).
- Right to work in the UK.
