Recognised planning qualification (degree level) and eligible for membership of Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI) Or Recognised conservation qualification (degree level) and eligible for Membership of Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) or an equivalent and recognised organisation,
- Negotiation skills
- the ability to undertake negotiations with developers to secure the best development possible along with contributions to community infrastructure,
- Knowledge of planning practice, procedures legislation, advice and policies or historic building and conservation practice, procedures legislation, advice and policies.

**Role responsibilities include**
- Preparation of written appeal statements, representing the Council’s case at hearings under the Planning Acts including the defence of the council against costs at informal hearings. An ‘informal’ hearing is a way of dealing with planning appeals with an independent Inspector assessing the opposing cases being put by the Council and appellant.
