**About the team**
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated and supportive team who work creatively with Subject teams to produce exciting, innovative digital resources for students and their teachers. We work in a matrix organisation across many teams and job functionsto create resources which really work in classrooms. This role can be based in Oxford or London. Although many of the team are in Oxford, we have regular contact with London team members and some of the team work partly or wholly out of our London offices.
**About the role**
We are looking for a knowledgeable, proactive self-starter with an understanding of digital publishing to join our Digital Content team. Working closely with our Product Development and Platform teams, you will be expected to get to grips quickly with thetools we use to create content and the needs of our digital services, and provide strategic direction and tactical advice on the best tools to use for digital content creation and delivery. You will also be a brilliant project manager, and a great communicator,and be able to manage external suppliers where necessary to deliver high priority projects on time and on budget. You will work closely with our whole team of content & learning specialists to ensure that their technical knowledge of our tools and digitalcontent creation process are top notch and up-to-date. You will provide a strong lead for our business within Pearson and ensure that our toolkit is functional, relevant, efficient and enables the building of first-class engaging content for our learners.
**A day in the life of a Senior/Advanced Digital Content Specialist**
**_During a normal day you might engage in some of the below activities:_**
**_New product set-up_**
- Contribute to product design to ensure products and services are fit for purpose within the education market
- Provide expert support in setting up new products to ensure appropriate selection of content creation and management tools
- Articulate, document and manage the functional requirements for digital products
**_Supplier briefing and training_**
- Ensure that suppliers are trained and supported in using Pearson tools and content management systems
- Ensure that suppliers are supported with strong briefs and appropriate tools
- Provide day-to-day troubleshooting for suppliers
- Answer questions from suppliers related to content, platform, functionality
- Brief suppliers on tools required for new projects
- Train and assist freelancer authors on the use of content creation tools
**_Internal training_**
- Provide training for internal roles in the use of content creation and management tools
- Provide day-to-day troubleshooting for the in-house team
**_Content creation and quality assurance_**
- Quality assure new tools and train others to quality assure suppliers’ work ensuring that functionality and content is fit for purpose
- Create and utilise efficient processes and workflows for content creation
- Where needed, manage freelancers to work with content creation tools to create and make changes to content
- Work with content management systems, e.g. Alfresco and Shingo.
**_Platform integration and testing_**
- Ensure assets conform with platform needs.
- Manage testing in platform environments and source freelancers to perform testing where necessary.
- Manage content dependencies such as platform integration, content readiness for professional development or marketing and communicate with wider team members.
- Create testing plans and briefs for functional, content, usability, regression and accessibility testing as required
- Plan testing across suitable Operating Systems, Browsers and Devices, according to platform specifications
- Create and utilise efficient processes and workflows for testing
**_Developing Pearson’s toolkit of digital content development and management tools_**
- Ensure that roadmap for functionality of tools is well understood, prioritised and delivered
- Brief any new templates, functionality for tools
- Investigate and evaluate alternative authoring tools and their suitability for new projects, whilst considering project requirements, costs, quality and timelines.
- Liaise with Pearson globally over UK Schools’ toolkit and PAF digital content development tools
- Interpret business requirements and influence development of template portfolio, adhering to Global Standards such as accessibility
- Engage with and influence the implementation of any new Pearson enterprise solutions relevant to the workflows and delivery of UK Schools portfolio.
**_Project Management inc Budget and schedule management_**
- Manage and keep track of budget and schedule for the development of the templates and content
- Project management: business case, ensure the project remains on budget, to quality and delivers to schedule awareness (depending on level of seniority)
- Work with the Content Delivery Team to adhere to supplier strategy, briefing and QA.
**_Accessibility_**
- Ensure our assets are built to accessibility standards and brief others (in and out of house) on accessibility standards.
