- Job description- We have an exciting opportunity for a confident leader of people, with experience of managing a practical team, to provide strategic leadership for our Field Operations delivery focusing on people and incident response. If you want to make a difference to the way we deliver to ensure effective and efficient asset maintenance and incident response consistently across in Devon Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (DCIS), as well as delivering our environmental goals, we’d love to hear from you.
You will:

- Lead the incident Management portfolio for Operations within the Area, delivering improvements to our approach to provide a resilient and consistent 24/7 emergency response.
- Support Team Leaders with people related issues to ensure that we establish the right culture and develop and motivate team members to achieve their potential.
- Lead on Health Safety and Wellbeing across Field Operations delivery and ensure that this is at the core of everything we do.
- Work collaboratively with others building effective relationships, internally and with external partners.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident.
- The team- The team is responsible for maintaining and operating our flood risk management assets and providing 24/7 incident response, protecting local communities.
Although you won’t have line management responsibilities, you will lead on people matters, field delivery and incident response across Operations in DCIS.
You'll be part of the Operations leadership team, reporting to the Operations Manager, working with internal colleagues in strategic and asset planning and external partners to support a joined-up flood incident response.

- an effective communicator with the ability to think strategically and translate organisational outcomes into plans and programmes for delivery. The ability to deliver results through others, without line management responsibilities will be key.
- Experienced in managing and developing people, dealing with performance issues and coaching and mentoring with the ability to support Team Leaders to manage their teams. Inclusivity and diversity will be at the core of your leadership.

Essential:

- A full UK driving licence
- Working knowledge of Health, Safety, Wellbeing and Environmental Risk Management.

- A relevant asset management, engineering, environmental or contingency planning qualification. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly across the Area.
