Health and Safety Advisor
**Reports to: Compliance Manager**

**Systems and Policies**
- Maintenance of the health and safety management system including supporting and following processes in line with ISO accreditation, Achilles, Constructionline, Avetta, insurance, SSIP and any other such accreditations, including audits
- Ensure that Company Policy is periodically reviewed and ensure that it remains in accord with legislation and the requirements of relevant standards
- Ensure the organisation has an effective risk assessment programme and relevant risk assessments are carried out, documented and updated
- Ensure any accidents are logged and regular checks of first aid equipment are carried out and documented.
- Oversee the use of any plant and equipment (including forklift trucks), and that all users are trained and qualified where needed.
- Reviewing processes and method statements and ensure these are kept up to date with changes in the business to keep staff safe.

**Communication**
- Liaise with other Company departments including operations, HR, sales, and finance to communicate audit results, outcomes, and recommendations as a driver for change and improvement.
- Providing support to other compliance-related areas (environment/quality/legal obligations/insurance/product safety etc).
- Liaise with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) or Local Authority, as required
- Work closely with warehouse management and other key staff to raise awareness of health and safety and to promote a safe and healthy culture
- Collaborate with other H&S and compliance staff to ensure all checks and daily H&S processes and procedures are carried out and correctly recorded
- Maintain a programme of regular staff communication and training including toolbox talks, newsletters and online training

**Planning and Organising**
- Build on existing frameworks to make CMT Group a market leader in health and safety, with best practice and creative/new innovations and ideas to continually improve our performance and raise skill levels across the business.
- Improve CMT’s performance on staff wellbeing and health, including mental health.
- Monitor the implementation of corrective actions identified in response to inspections, incident investigations and internal and external audits
- Implement and maintain an effective internal auditing regime for health and safety.

**Reporting**
- Support Senior Management in the formulation of Company Policy, Objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) in relation to Health and Safety Performance.
- Communicate KPIs to relevant Company departments and assist in measuring outcomes.
- Maintain relevant management records, monitor, and report on Company performance
- Organise quarterly H&S Management Review Meetings and reports.

**Work Hours**:

- 45 hours per week. Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm
