Job overview

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic clinical support worker to join the East Midlands, Children's Complications of Excess Weight Service.

You will be hospital based with a responsibility to see children in the outpatient setting, as well as liaise with families at home and provide education and health promotion, across the Nottingham, Derby and Burton regions.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a member of the team you will be providing a high quality service to children and young people with severe obesity and related complications. Within this role you will:
Support the maintenance of a robust framework that meets the needs of children and young people with severe obesity.
Assist in the development of health promotion and education materials in conjunction with other healthcare professionals, ensuring that all patient care within the multi-disciplinary team is based on the best available evidence.
Be an accessible, approachable member of the team as a first point of contact for patient and families.

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 2 Standard in health (or willing to work towards in a given time frame)
- Level 2 literacy and numeracy or GCSE Mathematics grade C or above
- Evidence of ongoing personal professional development
- GCSE in English

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
- Previous experience of working with different members of the MDT
- Demonstrate an understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Support Worker

Desirable criteria
- Computer literate

Skills and Ability

Essential criteria
- Good verbal communication /teaching skills to facilitate delivery of education effectively
- Good written communication skills to produce accurate patient records
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Owns a car and a valid driving licence and able to travel across the East Midlands

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.
