Senior Specialist Safeguarding Practitioner

Due to team expansion we are currently have a vacancy for a 30 hour Band 7 post within the children's part of the trust safeguarding team. We are looking for someone with experience of working with children and adolescent mental health to broaden our expertise in the team. This is an exciting, fast paced and diverse role, you will need the ability to think on your feet, to be able to positively challenge collages and other agencies about and have high levels of professional curiosity.

- The post holder will work with the Named Nurse for safeguarding Children, Named Midwife and the Team Lead Safeguarding Adults, MCA/DoLS and MHA Lead and the to ensure that the delivery of safeguarding is safe and has a robust governance and performance management framework.
- To contribute to the delivery of a proactive, responsive, specialist safeguarding adults service as part of the Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust Safeguarding Team. To work with a ‘think family’ approach, to identify wider vulnerabilities and ensure adequate plans are in place to address these.
- Working in partnership with staff and key stakeholders, to develop and deliver both single agency and multi-agency safeguarding training.
- Contribute to local Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hubs (MASH) by providing and analyzing complex health information and participating in Multi-Agency decision making; offering constructive challenge and appropriate escalation where appropriate.
- To provide specialist safeguarding supervision for clinical and non-clinical staff. To support Trust staff in undertaking their responsibilities in relation to Safeguarding adults, children and unborn’s and develop their skills around this.
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. - To work Trustwide as required, providing a service to all employees including covering safeguarding services.
- There will be a requirement to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service including shift patterns which cover 7 days working and on call sessions.
- To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
