An exciting opportunity has arisen on the Pain Management Procedure Unit Ward 18 for a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant who is seeking a new challenge. We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and reliable individual with an interest in pain management to become part of our friendly and diverse team. The Pain Management Service is a multidisciplinary team providing pain management to patients at all sites across University Hospitals Birmingham. We currently have a vacancy for a part time Healthcare Support Worker 15 hours/week. The role is primarily based on the Pain Procedure Unit Ward 18 at Solihull Hospital, however it will be necessary to work across sites when required.

The service operates between 07.30-18.00, Monday to Friday and would be an ideal position for those looking to work mainly weekdays. Working within the procedure room will require you to wear an Xray protective lead apron.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
You will also be involved in supporting the Registered Nurses to admit and discharge the patients attending Ward 18, carrying out routine observations and participating in the delivery of patient centred care whilst always maintaining a compassionate and professional approach.

The post holder will demonstrate competence in generic and specialist skills as required within a time frame agreed with their manager following the completion of appropriate training and education. You will function at a competency level in line with the requirements of the post and achieve and maintain both mandatory and statutory training requirements associated with the role.

Previous relevant experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

- Care Certificate or evidence of training and development associated with a Healthcare Support worker role

**Experience**:

- Experience of working/participating as part of a team
- Previous experience in a caring role
- An understanding of the HCA role in a hospital environment

**Desirable**:

- Minimum of 6 months in a care environment in the last 12 months
- Knowledge of the speciality
- Knowledge of the hospital IT systems
