We are at a very exciting time as a regulator, looking to the future and making sure that we are as good as we can possibly be. That will require new skills and new ways of working and engaging with our people so that all voices are heard and can influence the shape and success of our organisation. Part of this will be looking at a new structure for our employees to be heard that will involve our own staff representation committee, as well as the voices of Unions for the first time at the FCA. This role will be at the centre of setting this up, and then managing that dialogue to be structured and fruitful on an ongoing basis. This role is high in focus at the FCA at the moment with the Board and the Executive Committee committed to developing a greater level of engagement and transparency, and this will be one of the formal mechanisms for this.

This role provides unique opportunity in terms of visibility across a whole host of issues which impact what is a very diverse staff population.

Working with colleagues across HR, this Employee Relations Lead Associate role will provide you with the opportunity to shape a strategy to help shape the culture and strategy at the FCA in truly collaborative approach. We are looking for someone who is keen to get involved in the early thinking and shaping to support this work.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be adept at working with stakeholders across all levels, giving forethought and insight to topics of interest, and communicating this effectively to a variety of groups, sometimes at short notice. You will also need to be pro-active and collaborative, working with colleagues across the organisation to understand the business context and find practical solutions to unexpected challenges.

You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Lead the Employee Relations mandate, ensuring all groups are supported with expert advice and encourage and support the continued development of constructive relationships with our Staff Consultations Committee (SCC) and Trade Union colleagues, as well as our Network Groups.- Project Managing the stand-up and continued success of the FCA’s Employee Relations Framework, including policies on engagement with the SCC and Trade Unions.- Oversee the secretariat function of a body that will represent our colleagues, and ensuring the timely provision of quality briefings.- Supporting the preparation of briefings to the FCA’s most senior leaders.- Analysing best practice externally to identify successful approaches to strengthening Employee Voice.- Working with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to understand their objectives for the Employee Relations framework.- Partnering with the HR community to understand the challenges and pinch points in the current approach to Employee Relations.- Leading consultation and negotiation with representative bodies, managing the relationship with them as key stakeholders in departmental change and transformation and assuring the process is successfully representing the needs of colleagues across the FCA.

Skills/Experience Required

Minimum- A broad range of HR experience would be beneficial, with experience of managing employee relations in particular.- Experience at managing diverse stakeholder.- Excellent briefing and policy drafting skill.

Essential- Confident and skilled communicator, with ability to manage multiple issues and groups simultaneously- Confident in dealing with challenge constructively.- Ability to be both strategic and practical.- Understanding relevant best practice guidance and legislation in this field.

Desirable- CIPD qualification or equivalent proven personal interest in developing knowledge about best in class HR practices.
