The Department leads on the charity’s media and PR work, including everything from the latest research breakthroughs to compelling stories from people who have been affected by dementia, as well as engaging the public through face-to-face events and activities.

The Communications Executive will play a key role within the Strategic Communications function, which includes the Supporters & Families Communications team, who work with supporters to share their lived experience of dementia to illustrate the ‘why’ of the Charity’s work; the Corporate Communications team, who support our Corporate partnerships team in their communications and support the delivery of strategic projects; and the Campaigns & Projects team, which delivers and manages the organisation’s major communications projects to increase understanding of dementia.

This is a varied role that will involve the day-to-day management of our image and story library and essential administrative support for the Strategic Communications teams. The Executive will also have the opportunity to generate engaging content to support our fundraising teams in an effort to raise millions of pounds for life-changing dementia research.

**Main duties and responsibilities of the role**:
**Administrative**:

- Manage the day-to-day running of ResourceSpace, the organisation’s image and story library, to include:

- Uploading assets to the system with associated consent.
- Manage consent of supporter stories and associated imagery to ensure the assets on the system are GDPR-compliant and protect the interests of our supporters.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve the system for users through user feedback and problem-solving to ensure the system is working optimally for teams across Alzheimer’s Research UK.
- Create and update user guides and guidance for ResourceSpace users and administrators.
- Monitor usage of assets through regular reporting to identify any gaps or opportunities to add more content to the system.

**Media & Communications**:

- Provide administrative support for the wider Strategic Communications teams as needed, to help manage the flow of communications and media work.
- Work with the members of the Strategic Communications teams to identify opportunities to enhance the charity’s storytelling of the impact of dementia in its many activities.
- Work with supporters to tell their fundraising stories and personal experiences of dementia for use on our own channels (social media, blogs) and to create marketing content to be held on ResourceSpace for organisational use.
- Support the Strategic Communications function with communications and media activities including idea generation, copywriting and reporting on the work the function undertakes.
- Use our media database to prepare distribution lists for proactive media work relating to Alzheimer's Research UK’s strategic priorities, campaigns and fundraising activity.

**What we are looking for**:

- Confidence working with computers; knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Demonstrable administrative experience or relevant transferable skills.
- Experience building and managing relationships with others.
- A creative eye, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise and effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Good planning and organisation skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate appropriately with people affected by dementia.
- A hard-working team player, with ability to use initiative.
- Friendly and professional demeanour.
- Willingness and ability to travel in the UK and to work outside of regular office hours when needed.

**Additional Information**:
Roles that are classed as part of the Agile ways of working are not able to claim any costs for Mileage/Travel on Public Transport, Accommodation and/or Meals. This includes when attending the office for various meetings/events.
