We are a unique organisation in the sense that we are the only integrated provider in the Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire system. We value the diversity of our colleagues and actively champion an inclusive culture. We provide acute care for the Great Western Hospital, run adult community services across Swindon and manage primary care practices in Swindon, providing care for 30,000 patients.
Our 5,600 staff have 1.2m patient contacts a year, with 13,000 operations carried out in our Theatres, around 4,000 babies born, and our emergency attendances are now well over 100,000 per year. Those numbers only tell part of our story about what an exciting time it is to join Great Western Hospitals.
We are currently embedding a continuous improvement methodology we call Improving Together into our organisation and are equipping all of our staff with the training and support to turn their great ideas into reality.
That will help us to deliver an even better level of patient care, but we know that we need an improved estate to offer quality care too. That is why we have a large site development plan underway, called our ‘Way Forward Programme’, which seeks to develop a more integrated, streamlined and efficient health care system that will provide an effective balance of urgent and longer-term care for patients’ best interests.
