**Who are we?**

Kibble is Scotland’s specialist provider of services for at risk children and young people. By providing a range of integrated services, we help build positive futures for children and young people aged 5 plus, with complex social, emotional, and educational needs.

**What is the Job Function?**

The Head of Operations role is varied, and you will have a lead in virtually every aspect of Kibble’s community services and intensive fostering services. You will be tasked with ensuring these run efficiently, successfully and smoothly. You will be required to ensure that the services you are responsible for have the best working environment and processes. Reporting directly to an Executive Director, whilst working proactively across the senior management team, you will demonstrate proactivity, efficiency and effectiveness in terms of managing resources and developing team members and services further to drive the growth of the Kibble Group. The role requires a visionary who is also a driven and decisive with a proven track record of leading from the front to deliver high value service whilst building an inclusive and collaborative culture.

**Strategic**
- To embed and promote Kibble’s values and strategy plan ensuring the highest standard of childcare practice across our array of services
- To provide leadership, guidance and management to all staff
- To contribute to Kibble’s charitable aims and objectives
- To monitor and evaluate Kibble’s social service provision
- To take a proactive role in the development of existing and new services
- To take a lead role in developing and delivering a wide ranging “24-hour” curriculum
- To take a lead role in liaising with the Care Inspectorate and be knowledgeable about statutory requirements
- Work collaboratively with middle managers across the campus on areas such as - file audits, quality assurance, data capture and outcomes
- Promote partnership working with education and other internal departments across the Kibble group
- To work collaboratively with the other members of the extended senior leadership team
- To communicate effectively with management, staff teams and young people
- To assist with organisational strategy, service development plans and coordinating the annual development review process
- To lead in ensuring the safety of all personnel and young people including the movement of staff and young people

**Operational**
- To allocate resources efficiently and effectively with a specific focus on rotas and overtime
- To maintain a safe, caring and stimulating learning environment
- To participate in ‘on-call’ duties and oversee the on-call rota
- To lead on co-ordination of referrals, transitions (internal & external), admissions and discharges
- To co-ordinate and lead on daily/ weekly meetings across services
- To coordinate and lead weekly middle management meetings
- To guide and support staff, as appropriate
- To provide professional supervision to Operations Managers
- To participate in the recruitment and selection of new staff and middle managers
- To participate in the disciplinary or grievance process including undertaking investigations into conduct issues.
- To deputise in the absence of the Executive Director
- Provide support and supervision to the Operations and Service Managers in their managerial tasks
- Take a lead role in Child Protection issues and concerns in accordance with Kibble policies and procedures and in partnership with local authorities
- Form positive relationships with purchasers, working collaboratively with all partner agencies
- Take a lead role on business continuity management, inclusive of organisation risk and crisis management

**What qualifications and experience are we looking for?**
- Significant managerial experience in a promoted role supporting children and young people in a residential environment (open, secure, community);
- Possession of/working towards a Diploma in Social work or equivalent is desirable;
- SVQ Level 4 in Care;
- A recognised management qualification at SCQF level 8 or above;
- Experience in supporting and developing relationships with parents, carers, social work departments and the wider community;
- Experience and understanding of strategic leadership;
- Extensive experience in delivering a high-quality care using an innovative, trauma-informed and nurturing approach;
- Knowledge and understanding of a broad range of needs, including behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. An awareness of trauma, ASD, learning disabilities and health and mental health conditions that may impact on childhood and adolescence;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- The ability to build trusting relationships with young people, staff and external partners/agencies
- Possess a full driving licence and be willing and able to drive school transport.
