The Senior Infection Prevention and Control Nurse is a critical leader in the challenge to improve the profile and performance of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) at site level. The post holder will work in support of the MSE Lead Nurse for Infection Prevention & Control, the Director of Harm free Care and the Site Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC) to ensure that the site continually improves and sustains its performance in reducing Healthcare Associated Infections.

The Senior Infection Prevention and Control Nurse will lead the Infection Prevention Team in the prevention, monitoring, investigation, and control of infection maintaining and assuring compliance with the Health and Social Care Act, Care Quality Commission Regulation 12 Safe Care and Treatment, NICE guidelines, and other best practice standards relevant to Infection Prevention and Control.

The Senior Infection Prevention and Control Nurse will practice at an advanced level demonstrating autonomy, clinical decision-making. They will be responsible for the day-to-day IPC operational activities and deputising for the MSE IPC Lead Nurse as required.
