About the opportunity The Business Analyst works as part of the business facing team for the IT function, leading engagement and collaboration activity at every stage in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to deliver technology led change with abroad range of stakeholders from across every department within the organisation.
The Business Analyst is the link between the end-user and a project manager and forms a critical part of the IT Delivery function.
What you'll be doing...
Working in partnership with stakeholders during the initiation of an IT initiative and provide the necessary support that enables stakeholders to shape business strategy and complete the request process for new initiatives.
Using recognised techniques such as observations, interviews, workshops, data analytics and brainstorming to elicit functional and non-functional requirements for approved IT initiatives
Using relevant sources of knowledge, experience & both internal & external stakeholders to support problem solving as part of requirements definition
Using recognised approaches and methods to document requirements in the form of requirements catalogues and user stories as appropriate.
Underpinning requirements documentation with supporting artefacts including “as is” and “to be” process flows, data models and so on to ensure absolute clarity and approval on any proposed solution.
Using methods such as MoSCoW to ensure that captured requirements are regularly prioritised.
Identifying potential solution using existing technologies and new technologies in the market and assess for technical and business suitability.
Working with the architecture function to create solution design diagrams that are aligned to captured requirements.
Producing the relevant documentation to ensure that captured requirements can be tested and validated as delivered including success criteria, test scripts and test plans.
Co-ordinating testing activity as required, encompassing self-testing, stakeholder testing and third-party testing activity.
Defining elements of systems design, including wireframes, business rules, data migration rules and other detailed deliverables
Engaging with supporting third parties as required at any stage in the SDLC and acting as the link between third parties, stakeholders, and other members of the project team.
Acting as the primary contact for development teams, providing clarification that may be required for any solution related artefacts (functional specifications, solution design diagrams etc.) or individual aspects of a solution.
Producing any relevant materials that can be used to educate stakeholders on how to use and get value from delivered solutions, including demos, user manuals and work instructions.
Driving a continuous improvement mindset into business processes, ensuring maximum efficiency as processes are reviewed and developed.
Producing any relevant materials to enable the smooth transition of delivered solutions into business-as-usual support services, maintaining the quality of IT services and products.
Facilitating training sessions with end users on new solutions, leading delivery as appropriate.
Contributing to the evolution of the Poundland IT PMO function, sharing ideas, improving processes and educating colleagues from across the organisation.
What you'll need...
Experience of working in Retail organisations or similar in terms of size, scale and culture, including retailers with an international presence
Experience of working in fast paced, unstructured and ambiguous environments
Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders from different business functions
Experience of working on the end-to-end Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
Experience of leading analysis activity for complex business processes
Experience of supporting the production of business/ benefits cases in support of IT initiatives
Experience of producing artefacts to support the discovery process such as - requirements documents, functional design documents, business requirements documents, process flows, data flows, context diagrams, user stories and use cases.
Experience of working in cross functional project teams to deliver technology led solutions
Experience of working with third parties to deliver technology led solutions
Experience of managing stakeholders in challenging and demanding environments
