**Job description**:
- This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced emergency response team in the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. As a Watchkeeper in the Emergency Response Capabilities and Operations team (ERCO), you will be working with a wide range of critical sectors and senior officials. We work on live, high-profile issues and emergency responses, whilst also building capability across sector teams, and supporting the wider team so it can effectively carry out its work.- **Person specification**:
- Horizon scanning for emerging risks, and working with sectors across the department to understand their risk landscape;
- Management of the Emergencies Inbox and alerting the team of emerging incidents;
- Managing the Emergency Operations Centre to support emergency responses and ensuring that the facility is fit-for-purpose, including leading on enhancing its capability (an understanding of IT is not essential, but desirable);
- Supporting the coordination of the department’s response to major incidents by liaising with appropriate teams, developing briefings, and managing action logs and mailboxes;
- Maintenance of the on-call rota and emergency directory of contacts to ensure that emergencies can be effectively responded to;
- Working with the electricity and gas industries to ensure their staff receive the correct level of security clearance;
- Being a core part of cross-Government programmes of work to mitigate some of the most significant risks Government faces; and
- Providing other critical support functions for the team.
