An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Joint Health Improvement Team for a part-time Health Improvement Specialist within the Communities Team.

The post holder is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership across the 6 Public Health Priorities in order to promote health improvement and reduce inequalities in communities within the Scottish Borders.

The post holder is responsible for establishing and sustaining links internally within NHS Borders and with key external partners to promote health improvement and address inequalities in health. To work with partners across health, local authority and third sector to develop, implement and deliver on national & local strategic priorities.

To co-ordinate and project manage generic pieces of health improvement work relating to Communities and Health Inequalities.

To provide staff development sessions and training courses in own area of expertise to ensure that multi-agency capacity building activity reflects key national and local objectives and is delivered from a sound evidence base.

Applicants should be educated to Degree level and hold a postgraduate diploma in a health related discipline or have significant level of experience working in a relevant, specific topic, setting, and skill based health improvement arena. Experience of project planning, management and implementation is required. Having achieved or working towards UKPHR registration is desirable.

The post holder will not be required to undertake Exposure Prone Procedures (EPP).
