**About us**

East Gloucestershire Club is a members racket sports club in the heart of Cheltenham offering a hospitality service to it's members and visitors.

**The Bar and Catering Assistant position will be hands on with a focus on preparing, cooking and serving the club menu, plus when required, serving refreshments and beverages to the clubs’ members and visitors. You will ensure food and hygiene standards are maintained in a seven-day week environment with shifts including weekend and evening work.**

**The position requires excellent communication skills and applicants should be self-motivated and able to work as part of a team, whilst also using your own initiative.**

Job Description/Duties

1. Provide a friendly, attentive, welcoming and positive service to members, guests and visitors, at all times as defined by the Club’s Customer Service Charter.

2. Assist the preparation, cooking and serving of food and drinks to customers, including all bar beverages, food menu items and readymade bar food (cakes).

3. Ensure that the kitchen, catering and bar areas are always kept clean, in compliance with the required Food Hygiene Regulations.

4. Ensure that all associated equipment is used in a safe manner, kept in a clean condition and stored as appropriate.

5. Ensure that the tables and chairs in the bar public areas (including dining, lounge, patio, bar, meeting room) are kept clean and tidy (including the prompt collection of used crockery and glasses).

6. Take payments through the bar EPOS system and assist in the daily cash/card reconciliation.

7. Report any maintenance items, security issues, member complaints and suggestions to the Bar & Catering Manager as promptly as possible.

8. Undertake training and gain certificates as appropriate ((this may include Barista Training, Emergency First Aid, Fire Training, Food Hygiene, Customer Service).

9. Ensure that you understand, and can undertake, all the tasks on the Staff Training Checklist including the appropriate opening-up routines, normal operations and closing procedures (including end of evening cashing up, locking doors, switching lights off, setting the intruder alarm).

10. Undertake, and countersign as completed, all the appropriate items on the Cleaning Schedule including daily, weekly, monthly and half yearly tasks plus locking-up.

11. When on duty always ensure that you are dressed smartly and in the appropriate Club uniform with a name badge.

12. Undertake all other associated tasks as reasonably required.

**Job Types**: 3 x Part time contracts available to include weekend, daytime and evening work - All Permanent

**Salary**: Over 21's £10.00-£10.50 per hour, dependant on experience.
