(May need to cover 8.00 am to 8.00 pm over 7 days to cover service needs)
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our Integrated Diabetes Service. Whilst based at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital cover at other ELHT sites may be necessary to support service need. Therefore car driver with full licence and access to a vehicle is essential. Your role will be to provide high quality clerical support to the Multidisciplinary Diabetic Foot Team.
This is a fundamental role within our Service and in order to fulfil this role you must be a team player, be able to understand and comply with detailed and complex procedures/instructions and possess accurate communication skills, both verbal and written.
You should have adequate proven experience in general office and reception duties and must possess excellent and accurate keyboard skills, be able to demonstrate a level of skill to RSA III typing or equivalent. Experience in audio typing is essential. Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint is essential.

JOB SUMMARY
The Multidisciplinary Diabetic Foot Service involves the management and treatment of diabetic patients at very high risk or with active foot disease. This team is based at Royal Blackburn Hospital and liaises closely with other specialists in primary and secondary care with access to expert resources. The service also works closely with professionals based in the community in order to serve the best interests of the patient. The service receives referrals primarily from Community Podiatry Services in East Lancs and Blackburn with Darwen, but also accepts referrals from other Healthcare Professionals, Carers and Patients who refer themselves.
The service also sees those patients on inpatient wards who have been referred with a Diabetic Foot problem.
The Post Holder will be an integral part of the Diabetic Foot Service, ensuring that the service runs smoothly and efficiently to facilitate appropriate and timely access to patients requiring specialist intervention.STANDARDS OF CONDUCT

Post holders are expected to work flexibly within their pay band. They should only be expected to carry our activities for which they are competent. Alternatively they may carry out the additional duties if they are receiving support or training in order to obtain the recognised level of competence.
The Trust operates a Tobacco Control Policy.
MAIN DUTIES
- In conjunction with the Administration Manager and Extended Scope Podiatrists, develop and implement administrative processes along the patient pathway to ensure that the patient’s journey is managed smoothly and in accordance with agreed timescales and targets.
- Work with NHS databases including EMIS,PAS, EPTS and ICE to input, recall and examine patient information providing regular reports in a timely manner.
- Type and process correspondence, by way of audio typing, reports and other documents as requested on a daily basis with packages to include Microsoft Office i.e. Word, Excel Outlook, Access and PowerPoint
- Ensure that patient triage outcomes are recorded and acted on in line with operational procedure.
- Set up and populate appropriate out-patient clinics managing clinic capacity in liaison with the service leads.
- Receive and process all incoming correspondence, paper and electronic, ensuring that it reaches the appropriate place in a timely manner.
- Maintain an accurate and up to date filing system, ensuring accuracy of patient records.
- Process confidential patient sensitive documentation to and from patients, other healthcare professionals and external agencies.
- Deal with patient requests, concerns and queries promptly and escalate
