An exciting opportunity has arisen in the CASHER (Child and Adolescent Support and Help Enhanced Response)RAIS (Rapid and Intensive Support) Team for a forward thinking and flexible support worker to join our team. The job will entail working with young people and their families who are struggling with their emotional and mental health wellbeing. The young people we support have no support from mental health services or have support but need extra help. The job role will also entail working alongside other services to support the needs of the young person under their care.

The work with young people will include initial assessments, referrals on to other services, advice offered to families and young people and interventions with young people. CASHER is mainly an out of hours service so some flexibility will be needed when taking on this role and may require out of hours work and weekend work. The post holder will work in a variety of settings including the Children’s Wards, Adolescent Unit, A&E, client’s own homes, schools, Family Centre’s and Primary Care centres

There will also be the opportunity to do some Bank work on top of working hours for the CASHER RAIS service

Good Communication Skills to be able to assess the mental health of young people and engege with them

Approachable so the young people are able to open up and be honest

Able to prioritise work load and have effective time management

Able to work as part of a team and also on own initiative

Passionate and enthusiastic about working with children and young people with mental health issues

Able to work collaboratively with other services and build good working relationships

Able to carry out interventions to help young people and their families

Supporting the Band 6 at times on Duty with admin duties

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients.

- Assist in the assessment of children, young people and their families, working at times unsupervised but under the direction of CASHER Senior Practitioners.
- Assist in carrying out a range of therapeutic approaches as required by the CASHER Team, referring complex issues to senior staff.
- Assist in the organising, delivery and evaluation of specific interventions i.e. groups for children, young people and parents/carers.
- Assist in offering general advice and support to children young people and parents appropriate to the grade and level of competence.
- Assist in working collaboratively with all agencies and professionals in meeting the mental health needs of children and adolescents.
- To work in a variety of settings e.g. Children’s Wards, Adolescent Unit, A&E, school clinic, school, client’s own home and community groups.
- To maintain an up to date knowledge of child protection procedures and implement them as appropriate.
- Maintain a high standard of record keeping at all times.
- Attend and participate in regular meetings within the service.
