**Job Overview**
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team. As a Support Worker, you will provide assistance and support to individuals with various needs, helping them in working towards living fulfilling and independent lives.

We offer in-house training, delivered by our **Senior Management Team** and outsourced training, provided by highly-qualified and experienced trainers.
**Main Purpose of the Role**:
**Day to day tasks and accountability**
- Completion of day-to-day paperwork within the home, inclusive of key working and other planned/ unplanned work.
- When new systems are introduced, completing these with support of senior staff.
- Attend/ represent the home at meetings inclusive of CLA reviews, PEP meetings, Care planning meetings, etc.
- Ensure all safeguarding/concerns are recorded and reported.
- Read all child/young person’s care planning to inform your practice.
- Be a positive role model.
- Execute professionalism at all times.
**Supporting the young people**
- Work in line with the company’s ethos of how we look after the young people within the home.
- Immediately report any unsafe practices.
- Promote the safeguarding and wellbeing of the young people within our care.
- Encouragement for the young people to attend education and review strategies of how we are supporting this.
- With your team, celebrate young people’s achievements.
- Each shift follow the young people’s risk assessments and relevant plans.
- Be a voice for our children and ensure that their views, wishes and feelings are documented throughout our systems within the home.
- Support that the young people have access to a wide range of activities within the local area and further, in line with their interests and hobbies. Be proactive on your shift.
- Strive to make strong and positive relationships with the young people.
**Other expectations**
- Be an effective decision maker when faced with difficult and unexpected situations.
- Contribute to a safe environment for the young people and staff, completing any delegated tasks.
- Understand your own roles and responsibilities when looking after the young people and follow support/ guidance from senior staff around this.
- Follow company policies and procedures & be confident to raise any practice issues that you have.
- Cover for senior staff if required and complete allocated tasks in line with this.
- Attend required training and engage with development plans implemented.
- Confidentiality is maintained within the home and code of conduct is adhered to.
- Complete sleep ins required based on your rota.
- Participate in your own supervision and attend team meeting’s.

**Qualifications**

- Desirable_:
NVQ 3 - Level 3 Diploma (QCF) qualified in Children and Young People’s workforce (or equivalent)
**Experience**
*No previous experience required*
- Desirable_:
Previous experience of working/ volunteering with children and young people in residential or another setting.
**Skills & abilities**
- Good at working as part of a team but also effective at using own initiative when given lone tasks to complete.
- Approachable for other staff within the home.
- A good role model to children and staff within the home.
- To be professional within the home and whilst representing the company when working with outside agencies, families and any other.
- Good reporting and recording skills
- support will be provided by senior staff if this is an area that requires further support.
- To have good organisational skills and manage time affectively within the home, completing tasks within timescales.
**Knowledge**
- Desirable_:
- Knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations.
- The role of outside agencies.
- How we best support the needs of our young people and the interventions we use to do so.
**Other requirements**
- A willingness to be flexible to support the home for staffing shortages, staff taking leave etc. This area is reviewed during supervision, probation and annual appraisal.
