Summer Activity Leader

Cirencester, United Kingdom Elac Study Vacations Full time

**The role**

Activity Leaders are the heart of our summer schools. They bring the fun and social element to our courses. They help to ensure all our students are happy, safe and have fun. We are looking for confident, outgoing, energetic staff members who are happy to throw themselves into anything.

**Other skills we are looking for are**:
Communication, leadership, organisational, adaptability, problem solving, creativity, patience, team working, empathy, cultural sensitivity, and supervision skills as well as a positive attitude

Organising and running a variety of activities, you will engage with our students, who can all speak basic English as a minimum, and get them to mix with different nationalities so they can practice their English. It would be great if you have experience of organising and planning sports, drama, dance, or craft activities. If, however, you don’t have experience in these areas but are confident, energetic and would be comfortable leading and interacting with a group of students then we still want to hear from you and we encourage you to apply.

As the role also involves taking students on excursions to places like London as well as local areas, it would be beneficial if you had knowledge of the area, but it is not essential.

**Working Week**

Activity Leaders typically work 6 days per week, with at least 1 full day off per week. Working hours include activities, trips and supervision duties (mealtimes, breaks, night duties etc.). Non-residential staff will not be required to carry out night duties or breakfast supervision.

The activity programme is split into 3 sessions, morning, afternoon and evening with each session lasting up to 3 hours. You will most likely work 2 out of 3 sessions on each day except on excursion days which are a full day. However, flexibility will sometimes be required due to the demand of summer school.

Please note that this position will require significant amounts of walking on guided tours, carrying equipment and moving furniture for indoor activities, so a degree of fitness is required.

This is a rewarding role with lots of our Activity Leaders returning year after year and opportunities for promotion for those who stand out. You will make lots of new friends and you will gain lots of new skills which will look great on your CV.

If you can’t commit to 4 weeks, then still get in touch as we may be able to work around your availability. If you can only work sporadically, ask us about our session only contracts where you will work with us on a more ad hoc basis.

**The process**

After you apply, we will take a look at your CV and invite you to a chat, via Teams, so we can find out a little more about you. We will also explain the role in more detail as well as answer any questions you may have. We will let you know quickly if you have been successful, so you won’t be left waiting. We are friendly team, and we are look forward to speaking with you soon.
