**What you’ll be doing**

In this dynamic role, you’ll be at the forefront of the IET’s academic books publishing programme. You'll champion excellence by taking charge of delivering a select number of book titles annually, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and relevance. You'll maintain meticulous records ensuring seamless transitions from manuscript submission to production. Fostering strong relationships with authors and editors, guiding them through manuscript development and offering invaluable support is a vital part of the role.

**A little more about the role**
- Take responsibility for the delivery of an agreed number of book titles each year into production.
- Maintain regular contact with authors/editors, monitor and encourage manuscript development, and provide support to authors and editors during the writing stage.
- Report to the Publisher on the status of projects, including any extensions or delays.
- Liaise with the Publisher and Commissioning Editors over actions to take on delayed or problematic projects.
- Analyse received manuscripts and work with authors to turn them into production-ready quality.
- Ensure a smooth and timely handover of manuscripts into production.
- Maintain accurate records on project statuses and metadata, including ensuring the Manuscript Submission System and Digital Asset Management System are kept up-to-date.
- Provide administrative support to the editorial team, working closely with the Editorial Assistant and Commissioning Editors.
- Co-ordinate with the Editorial Assistant to ensure that day-to-day tasks are completed in an organised and timely manner.
- Undertake any other duties and projects at the request of the line manager.

- Experience working in academic or STEM publishing, or a closely related environment.
- A thorough understanding of publishing workflows, including editorial and production processes.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write with clarity and accuracy on technical topics.
- Excellent time management, organisation and planning skills.
- Proven ability to manage a portfolio of small projects, including delivering to deadlines whilst maintaining high quality standards.
- Experience using MS office tools and programs.
- Experience using digital asset management tools and systems.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract

**Salary**: £26,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
