As a Claims Handler in Complaints and Legal, you will be responsible for managing and resolving claims made against the company. This includes claims related to clinical negligence and those related to personal injury and public liability. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that claims are handled efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with legal regulations and company policies. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
**Responsibilities**:
As a Claims Handler, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
- To receive all new legal claims (clinical negligence, employers and public liability) and ensure they are acknowledged and recorded in accordance with the Trust’s procedure.
- To be responsible for disclosure of health records within specified timeframes in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations and Civil Procedure Rules.
- To ensure records are retained of the searches undertaken for any missing record or document, and that records are retained where necessary.
- To collect the preliminary information required to determine liability, and to investigate as required for ongoing claims management.
- To ensure the Trust complies with set timescales in, but not limited to, the General Data Protection Regulations, Civil Procedure Rules, and the Coroners and Justice Act, and to escalate to the Head of Legal Claims where necessary if this cannot be achieved.
- To communicate with Claimant solicitors (acknowledgement and ad hoc response to requests) under the guidance of the Head of Legal Claims, ensuring all information communicated is of a high quality.
- To liaise with staff involved in risk management investigations that may lead to claims to ensure that appropriate sharing of information where a claim is anticipated.
**Requirements**:
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualities:
- Proven experience in claims handling, preferably in a legal or complaints management environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, colleagues, and external parties.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality in handling sensitive information
- Bachelor's degree in law or paralegal studies is preferred but not required.

**Salary**: £27,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
