Our fabulous #TeamSBCS in expanding and on the look for new colleagues who are compassion and empathetic with a positive nature to join them as **Support Practitioners. **We have various contracts available up to full time hours including relief opportunities if you are look for something with a bit of flexibility to fit in with your routine.
**The Role**
Our Community support and housing support services cover various localities across the Scottish Borders but primarily in the Galashiels and Kelso areas providing support to people with learning disabilities Autism, physical disabilities and mental health challenges.
With a focus on maintaining and promoting independence, you will work in a person-centred way to provide support in all aspects of daily living, including cooking and preparing meals, personal care, administering medication and managing personal finances. As a Support Practitioner, you’ll be enthusiastic and take an active interest in their hobbies which may include both listening to and playing music, going swimming, playing and watching sports, getting involved in arts and crafts, animals, exercise, gaming and charitable work along with many more activities. The people we support love trying new things and we'll be looking to you to help identify opportunities for participation and inclusion for the people we support.
As a few of the people we support have their own mobility cars it would be great if you have a manual UK driving licence with at least one year experience but this isn’t a deal breaker
To be a great Support Practitioner, we'll need you have;
- Great communication skills.
- Able to think outside the box.
- Caring attitude and approach.
- Positive approach to learning.
- Able to follow guidelines.
- Confidence in the use of technology.
**Shift Patterns**
Our Community support teams operate 365 days per year, shifts typically fall between between 8 am and 8pm with alternate weekends. One of the services we support also includes a sleepover. Our team works flexibly to meet the needs of the people we support so there may be later shifts and split shifts included in your rota to support with activities,
