Men’s Health Social Evening Facilitator (Volunteer Role)

Purpose of role

To support CACT staff in the running of the club, with a focus on supporting the clients to engage in activities and socialising. Volunteers are to demonstrate strong listening and communication skills. Some experience of mental health is useful. Reliability is key. Volunteers must be willing to support within guidelines and always follow confidentiality policies.

Key Responsibilities:

- Socialise with clients
- Play games and get involved in activities, as required.
- Organise activities if you have a particular skill you would like to share and help the clients to engage in activities.
- Serve drinks and food (if this is a role the volunteer wishes to do and is trained to do so).
- Tidy up after food and activities.
- Other tasks as asked for by the CACT staff or manager.
- Be part of a friendly team and supported in your role.
- Access training and development as appropriate, e.g., food safety, mental health awareness.
- To help increase membership to the club.

Essential skills:

- Experience working with the community.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to work effectively within a team.
- Knowledge of Royal Borough of Greenwich.

Desirable skills:

- Performing risk assessments.
- Ability to support participants.
- Empathy and understanding.

- Feel able to tell us if you are dissatisfied in any way.
- Keep to all CACT policies and procedures, summarized in the volunteer’s handbook.
