**KITCHEN ASSISTANT**

**Accountable to**:Care Centre Manager

**Job Purpose**:To support the Cook/Assistant Cook in meeting the dietary needs of the residents.

**Principal Responsibilities**:
1. To accept reasonable duties as delegated by the Cook/Assistant Cook.

2. To assist with the preparation and serving of meals and beverages as required.

3. To prepare the dining room for the serving of meals.

4. To clear tables and ensure all crockery and cutlery are washed and put away.

5. To ensure cleaning is completed as per cleaning schedules.

6. To report any problems to the Cook/Assistant Cook, Manager or Senior person in charge at the time.

7. To assist in stock taking and storage of stock, including checking deliveries. Assist in putting away supplies as necessary, ensuring correct storage.

8. To ensure that access to the kitchen is restricted to designated people.

9. To ensure all chemicals and detergents are used and stored correctly and to include the use of personal protective equipment provided.

10. To report to the Manager, or Senior person in charge, as soon as possible any illness of an infectious nature.

11. To participate in staff meetings.

12 Attend all training sessions and adopt a positive attitude to self-development. Complete all training as per Company programme.

13. To work in accordance with the home’s policies and procedures and to assist in ensuring a high level of health and safety, cleanliness and food hygiene, and to ensure that safe working practices are followed.

14 Ensure confidentiality is maintained in handling all sensitive information to include resident and staff information. Files should be kept locked away. Information should not be left out.

15 Maintain accurate records in accordance with Company policies.

**REVIEW**

This sets out the main responsibilities of the post and is not an exhaustive list and as such the post holder may be required to carry out other duties.

Changes which affect the organisation may necessitate the responsibilities of this post to be reviewed.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Zero hours contract
Part-time hours: 31 per week

**Salary**: £10.42 per hour
