**What is the opportunity?**

MHI Finance Department provides support to a wide spectrum of clients including the Board and its Sub-Committees, MHSC (as the Shareholder), Senior Management and the business lines.

It fulfils the role and responsibility of providing internal and external financial measurement and reporting on business performance to management and all areas of the global organisation.

The Finance Dept comprises 4 specialist teams:
1. The Financial Reporting Team produces management accounting information to aid the efficient and effective operation of the business and leads the annual business planning process, coordinates the external audit and produces the published accounts,

2. The Product Control area is responsible for the main financial reporting and control functions relating to the trading elements of MHI, including the valuation of the Company’s Balance Sheet. In this capacity it works closely with the business and Risk Management department both in London and Tokyo.

3. The Regulatory Reporting Team is responsible for monitoring and reporting regulatory capital and liquidity to Senior Management, the business and respective regulatory bodies in the areas the company operates.

4. The Tax function is responsible for tax policy, compliance, the management of the company’s tax affairs and interaction with tax authorities.

**What will you be doing?**
- Managing the quarterly tax provisioning calculation for HO Group reporting.
- Managing the year-end tax reporting, tax journal entries, Head Office tax reporting and dealing with tax audit queries from external auditors.
- Managing the in-house tax reporting software and excel based tax packs for MHBK.
- Leading the preparation and submission of UK corporate tax return and iXBRL tagging for MHBK.
- Supporting the preparation and submission of R&D claim for MHBK.
- Owning and managing the calculation of tax payments (CT and Bank Surcharge).
- Leading and maintaining relationships with external advisors, auditors, HMRC and senior stakeholders in relation to CIT, other forms and payments submissions.
- Supporting the Head of Tax and other Tax Team Members on various tax work streams (transfer pricing, AEOI, transactional taxes,).
- Assisting the Head of Tax on New Product reviews.
- In addition to delivering corporate tax compliance services there are opportunities to be involved in tax advisory work.

**What do you need to succeed?**
- Demonstrable experience working on CT reporting.
- Experience preparing UK CT computations and returns.
- Knowledge of UK CT laws and regulations.
- Track record of managing auditor/tax authority queries.
- Working for a financial services company, with an awareness of key issues.
- Banking specific experience (e.g. Bank Levy, Bank Surcharge etc.) as it applies to a UK Branch of a Japanese Bank.
- Good knowledge of UK direct taxes (calculation of temporary differences, GAAP reconciliations, permanent adjustments).
- Detailed understanding of UK tax rules for CT reporting and accounting purposes
- including being able to prepare tax returns and accurate QIP payments.
- An interest and ability to focus on CT reporting, including quarterly reporting HO reporting.
- A willingness to learn and self-improve and a passion for supporting the business.
- Knowledge of reporting under different accounting standards (e.g. FRS 102 and JGAAP).
- Advanced Excel skills
