**Job summary**:
- The Operations Team support and facilitate the efficient running of the wider Research and Evaluation (R&E) department at UKHSA Porton. Through close interaction with Scientific staff and supporting UKHSA functions such as Safety, Quality, Commercial, Finance, Estates and Engineering, the team ensure the department has the resources and systems in place to allow delivery of high-quality scientific data. Research and work undertaken includes the pre-clinical evaluation of countermeasures and model development to support this work, the risk assessment of emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants, development of assays to advance the testing of vaccines, and investigation of organ-on-a-chip technology as an adjunct to our existing capabilities.**Job description**:

**Responsibilities section**:
The Operations Support Officer will have a range of responsibilities including but not limited to:
**Support the Operations Team and wider department by undertaking relevant tasks as directed. These will be varied and will include involvement in the departments Capital plan and commercial activities, troubleshooting and providing advice on the use of internal systems and processes, developing communications and presentations, as well as those listed below.**
- Implement and maintain systems to enable effective planning and scheduling for the team and projects within it.
- Implement and maintain project and process controls.
- Produce status reports, performance data and research new information.
- Manage and monitor compliance of processes in line with UKHSA guidelines and legislation, including Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Security.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as point of contact for project responses to requests for information and signpost accordingly.
- Support the development of business cases and supporting documents.
- Maintain the service issues log and contribute to the department risk log; work with more senior colleagues and managers to resolve issues and escalate where appropriate.

**Essential**:
- Developing and / or maintaining plans to ensure agreed outputs are delivered within agreed time, cost, and scope parameters. Engaging and managing a diverse range of stakeholders and collaborating to achieve desired outcomes.
**Desirable**:
- Working in a public-sector organisation
- Proven ability to work within the confines of systems and processes in place to ensure compliance internal and external rules and regulations.
**Qualifications**:
**Essential**:
- Confident IT and advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Experienced of use of systems to order goods and services and an understanding of relevant policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of electronic quality or document management systems (eg. QPulse)
- Working knowledge of electronic finance/people transaction management systems (eg. MaPS)

- Scientific background or experience of working in a Scientific department/site
