The SMHP (Severe Mental Health Problems) CBT Programme in the Clinical Education Development and Research (CEDAR), Psychology, wishes to recruit several **CBT Clinical Supervisors** across the Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate in Psychological Therapies Practice (SMHP CBT) Programme in all three of its clinical areas: CBT for Anxiety Disorders and Depression (Year 1 PGDip), CBT for Psychosis and Bipolar Disorder (Year 2 PGDip and PGCert), and CBT for Personality Disorder (Year 2 PGDip and PGCert).

We also wish to recruit to several** Academic Tutor** roles across the Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate in Psychological Therapies Practice (SMHP CBT) Programme in two of its clinical areas: CBT Anxiety Disorders and Depression (Year 1 PGDip), and CBT Psychosis and Bipolar Disorder (Year 2 PGDip and PGCert).

The above part time 0.1/0.2 FTE posts are available from January 2023 on a fixed-term contract until the end December 2023 with the likelihood of being extended.

Supervisors will provide clinical CBT supervision to their small group of trainees as per the programme timetable. Additionally, they will undertake clinical competency marking via the CTS-R. Training and support will be provided regularly. Supervision is currently delivered remotely via video platform software (MS Teams), and Supervisors are expected to be skilled in the use of digital technologies and video platform such as MS Teams and Zoom.

The Tutor role supports the trainees in their studies and provides input into the delivery of the training programme. These part-time 0.1/ 0.2 wte posts need to be worked on a Thursday afternoon (Anxiety Disorders/Depression CBT) and/or a Friday afternoon (CBT Psychosis/ Bipolar Disorder). Currently all teaching, meetings, and student support is delivered remotely, and Tutors are expected to be skilled in the use of digital technologies and video platform such as MSTeams and Zoom. The post can also be combined with a SMHP Supervisor post (advertised separately).

**The Role - Supervisor**

The primary purpose of the supervisor role is the delivery of CBT clinical supervision and the evaluation of trainee competency in CBT. The CBT psychotherapist will work using standard approaches to CBT supervision; further training and supervision of supervision will be provided.

Working with the Programme Team, you will collaborate on the design, development and production of clinical supervision and learning material within the programme, delivering within the specified clinical models of CBT. You will work with other supervisors and the Clinical and Programme Leads to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of clinical supervision within the teaching programme in accord with the College’s education strategy and implementing the External Affairs strategy. You may also contribute directly to teaching in relation to the development of clinical skills within the specified clinical area and to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices in relation to clinical supervision.

**Specific Purposes of the Supervisor Job**:

- Act as independent practitioner, supervising the formulation and implementation of appropriate treatment plans for trainees undertaking training.
- Receive training in supervision andsupervision of supervision
- Work alongside clinical supervisors, academics, trainers and clinicians to provide a high-qualitysupervisory service
- Undertake marking and assess clinical competency of trainees with a range of approaches as required, and write supervision reports
- Keep records of supervision sessions and reflectively discuss clinical cases with the supervisory team
- Implement policies and propose changes to practices, procedures for your own area of work and propose policy or service changes which impact beyond their own area for the wider training and clinic settings

**About you**

For a Supervisor post you will:

- Possess a depth or breadth of specialist knowledge demonstrated by post-graduate level training or the necessary equivalent experience and training to support their ongoing BABCP Accreditation.
- The successful applicant will possess an in-depth understanding of CBT in the specialist area, CBT training, and CBT clinical supervision to facilitate the development of trainee therapists towards competent CBT practice in common mental health disorders (anxiety and depression), psychosis and bipolar disorder, or personality disorder.
- Use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students;
- Participate in and develop external networks, for example, to contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities;
