We have a vacancy for the role of Head of Capital Projects. The Trust Capital Projects Department provides a service to the Trust that ranges from Estates strategic planning, refurbishments, new builds, estates projects and some minor capital works to the provision of ongoing planning of future capital developments in line with the Trust clinical and estates strategy.

As a result, we are seeking an experienced and ambitious individual to provide leadership and management of the Capital Projects team, to ensure timely and efficient delivery of the capital programme alongside the development of the intelligent client role for our larger scale portfolio. You should also feel comfortable in providing guidance and direction to consultant teams employed on the larger and more sophisticated projects. This role is key to achieving the Trust’s ambitions as set out in the Estates Strategy and an influential part of the Estates leadership team.

- To manage the Capital Developments in an efficient and effective manner so as to provide the highest possible standards of service delivery within the resources allocated, ensuring statutory compliance.
- In conjunction with the Deputy Director Estate & Facilities to maintain and develop the estate to ensure an appropriate environment for the delivery of patient care.
- Promote an organisational approach to project management and assist other directorates to achieve the Trust’s business and organisational objectives.
- Ensuring all relevant criteria are considered when assessing the overall impact and value of the project. Maintaining an accurate record of tasks, plans, risks, status, costs, and specification changes.
- Act as an ambassador for Estates and to develop the reputation of Estates within the organisation, by delivering efficient and high-quality capital projects.
- Use/develop project documentation, associated procedures, and processes to ensure projects are appropriately documented.
- Proactively support the achievement of trust business objectives through the Estates strategy and through identification of opportunities for improvement of process, both management and clinical.
- Develop/participate in the compilation of Business Cases (both Outline and Final) as and when required, with Trust colleagues that demonstrate improvement in quality and effectiveness of services and are consistent with the strategic/business aims of the Trust

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital has circa 500 beds, 28 wards and serves a population of around 278,800 people who are living in three counties of Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.

- To manage the capital function such as to ensure that the estates service is provided efficiently and effectively to the highest possible standards within the resources allocated. To provide a quality service which is responsive to service and client needs.
- Set budget estimates for capital development schemes, ensuring value for money through appropriate budgetary control mechanisms and efficient operational and working methods.
- Assist in the formation of an Estate Strategy and its up-dating.
- Throughout the Capital schemes, actively seek and implement energy saving and income generation schemes to contribute to the Trusts cost improvement and efficiency plan. Contribute to the Trust energy/carbon targets through new schemes.
