Acute Care Consultant Paediatrician

Applications are invited for 5.0 WTE Acute Consultant Paediatrician. The successful applicant will have a job plan to include some resident long days, nights, and weekends (with compensatory time off) and weekdays.

This post will especially suit a Consultant or Senior Paediatric Trainee within 3 months of their CCT, with our full support to their ongoing Consultant career development and career portfolios. Consultants at a time of transition are also ideally considered. Any sub-speciality interests are welcomed.

The role will be based at Broomfield Hospital site and is a fixed term contract of 6 months.

Some more specific responsibilities of the successful applicant may therefore include:

- Senior consultant medical input to the Children’s Wards, Paediatric Assessment Unit and Day Unit, including
- Reviewing children referred by GPs for an urgent paediatric opinion
- Reviewing ongoing care for children admitted to the children’s ward
- Assisting general and subspeciality paediatric clinics
- Teaching and training junior doctors and nurses and supervising the tier 1 and 2 doctors in the course of their work
- Supporting the Advanced Nurse Practitioners
- Providing cover for trainee doctors when attending protected teaching sessions.

Each post consists of 10.4 PA including 8.9 PA as DCC and 1.5 PA for SPA.
