The role

You will be part of the project’s leadership team and be jointly responsible for all elements of the successful delivery of the scheme. Your primary areas of day-to-day focus will be the commercial leadership. The senior commercial manager is responsible for all commercial and financial elements on a high value, complex construction project through pre-construction, delivery, and final accounts stages.

What will you do?
- People manager to a team of project based commercial managers.
- Developing team members to enhance the overall performance of the Project ensuring that project teams are appropriately resourced and that succession plans are in place.
- Contributes to the robust implementation and management of commercial, legal, insurance and risk controls at package and project level feeding into and overseeing the wider management of the project commercials.
- Project commercial reporting to client including change management, lump sum progress and procurement progress.
- Accurate internal commercial reporting and contract administration with focus on trade packages and other supply orders. This includes (but is not limited to) interim payments, management of change accounts, cashflows, final accounting (client and subcontractor) and contract administration.
- Lead the management of the cash position across project with focus at sub-contractor package level to deliver profit to business in accordance with business unit plan.
- Manage the project profit plan and delivery of project GPM in line with BU objectives.
- Manage the internal approvals process in line with limits of authority.
- Establish and get approval for the project procurement strategy.
- Procure the project in accordance with approved strategy ensuring that orders are fully scoped, bought at best value, and are correctly contracted in accordance with limits of authority.
- Adhering (and where necessary put in place) to structures and processes to ensure consistency of delivery across the project.

You will bring
- Strong planning and organisation skills with ability to manage competing and diverse work effectively within strict timeframes.
- Quantity surveying degree or equivalent
- RICS professional qualification
- JCT contract experience and understanding / experience of lump sum design and build contracts.
- Experience working with public and private sector clients.
- Experience of working for a principal contractor on either large new build or refurbishment projects.
- Demonstrate excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Experience with tendering subcontract works.
- Able to prepare subcontract documentation ready for engrossment by external parties.
- Claims Management experience.
