**About us**

This is an exciting opportunity in the 24/7 Network Management Control Centre (NMCC), soon to be rebranded as the Surface Control Centre.

The purpose of the Surface Control Centre (SCC) is to deliver highly effective and efficient command and leadership of the non-rail (Surface) network by safely supporting, co-ordinating, and enabling operational delivery at a network level to ensure TfL provides a world-class integrated service to its customers and to London more widely. SCC monitors and operates London’s Road network including 6,000 traffic signals to support the movement of people and freight, as well as operating 12 tunnels including the Blackwall Tunnels and Rotherhithe Tunnel. SCC also manages London’s bus network, including 8,000 buses that supported 1.8 billion journeys in 22/23. More widely, SCC provides Command, Control & Communication (C3) functions for Trams & Sponsored Services.

The Surface Control Centre is a world class operation delivering Londoner’s journeys safely across Transport for London’s Surface network including London’s iconic Buses, Roads and Tunnels.

**SOO (Surface) role - A brand new, exciting role in the Surface Control Centre. The new structure is due to go live early 2025 so the initial focus will be training and readiness for stand up.**

**This is a 24/7 rostered senior manager role.**

You will be responsible for:

- Having strategic situational awareness of our operating environment and looking beyond TfL to understand the impact of incidents/events/weather and the wider community to understand incidents /disruptions that potentially could impact our services that can be anticipated and contained.
- Deploy their developed understanding of our business’s capabilities considering all available interventions, in partnership with modal areas, to ensure that TfL have identified and prioritised the correct resources and are engaged in activities best suited to deliver our objectives in a timely, safe, and effective manner.
- Oversee/deliver regular and ad-hoc real-time communications on behalf of our organisation to senior stakeholders that are timely, relevant and accurate to ensure shared situational awareness and inform decision making
- Performs the role of duty silver commander during an incident or event that triggers the stand up of the TfL Significant Incident Procedure, represents TfL at multi-agency meetings ensuring situational awareness and cooperation with all London agencies (Government, Emergency Services etc)
- Oversees the day-to-day outputs and activity of the C4 Coordinator team on shift ensuring they provide leadership, direction, support, coaching, address any performance issues and hand over to the people management team

**Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Ways of Working**
- Experience of incident management at a strategic and tactical level demonstrating the ability to prioritise critical activities and resources and always be one step ahead.
