Truro, United Kingdom Cornwall Council Full time

An exciting opportunity has come up for a Network Planner to join our dynamic and friendly team in the Transport Coordination Service.

The Transport Coordination Service (TCS) plans and manages Cornwall Council’s transport arrangements. It markets and supports the whole public transport network, manages the concessionary fares scheme for 100,000 Cornish residents; determines eligibility and organises transport for over 13,000 children and young people, including up to 2000 Post-16 students, as well as over 1000 children with Special Educational Needs. There are also 1500 social care service users provided with transport every day. In total, there are over 15 million passenger journeys made annually.

As a Network Planner you will work with the existing Network Planning Specialist and assist in the planning and development of the Cornwall public transport network, working closely with operators and key stakeholders. You will assist with the undertaking of regular network reviews and the dissemination of timetables, schedules and route maps.

The role holder will also work with existing team members on road closures and event notifications across the county, liaising with operators and both internal and external colleagues to identify and help minimise the impact these bring to services. You will assist in the publication of service revisions via Traveline and real time roadside displays.

Do you have good oral and written communication skills? Are you willing to work to gain understanding and knowledge of all aspects of Network Planning and the operational impact of this work? If so, then we would love to hear from you

Fairness and inclusion are at the heart of our vision for Cornwall. In order to best serve our communities, we are striving to achieve a diverse workforce that is inclusive of all backgrounds, cultures and identities; e.g. race, disability, sex, gender, age, religion and sexual orientation. We are an equal opportunities and Disability Confident employer, and we will assess applicants on their merits.

Cornwall Council is committed to safeguarding and following safer recruitment principles to help make sure our staff and volunteers are suitable to work with children, young people and adults at risk. It’s a vital part of creating a safe and positive environment and making a commitment to keeping all service users safe from harm.

Whilst the location/work-base for this role has been specified, our evolving ways of working means that the role may require you to also work remotely (e.g. from home/other locations). We will discuss this with you during the recruitment process.

We are open to discussion about flexible working.
