Swindon, United Kingdom National Trust Full time

We’ve got a great opportunity for a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Data Officer.

The National Trust looks after over 250,000 hectares of land. All of this (and more) needs careful data management which happens through our key data systems. GIS is an integral part of this data management.

As a team, we lead on creating organisational value from data; ensuring our enterprise data is trusted, understood, well governed and that we maximise the value from data to deliver our strategy. We’re looking for a GIS Data Officer to join the team to help us achieve these aims.

We've got passionate people in all our teams, and we've got so much more we want to achieve. We're for ever, for everyone and we really mean that.

The team are strong on working collaboratively and sharing the load, supporting each other across varying locations.

What you'll be doing:You’ll be jointly responsible for managing key operational, legal and land management datasets. These include enterprise data such as ownership and management units that are used within our critical business systems across the Trust.

The role will include a substantial element of technical GIS data editing and data maintenance as well as creating cartographic output from the data.

Who we're looking forYou can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what is possible in this role, we’d love to hear from you if you have:

- GIS skills: you’ll be hands-on capturing, managing and analysing enterprise data.
- Collaborate: working within the team you’ll ensure our data is correct and current and meets the needs of the organisation in a timely fashion.
- Visualise: your cartographic skills will be required to produce mapping outputs for use both within the organisation and externally.
- Communicate: you’ll assist in delivering training and guidance on the organisational GIS Browser and data management to a range of staff and volunteers to ensure they’re able to get the most out of the GIS tools available to them.
- Motivation: self-motivated, team player with good communication skills.
