**Job overview**:
Applications are invited from an enthusiastic and motivated surgeon for a fixed term specialty doctor post in Vascular surgery in a tertiary vascular centre at Nottingham University Hospitals.

Although this is not a training post, the post holder will receive educational and clinical supervision and will be encouraged to participate in departmental audit and research

**Main duties of the job**:

- Providing inpatient and outpatient vascular service under consultant supervision.
- Senior member of the Middle Grade staff, and flexible timetable integrated with the other 3 (or 4) Registrars and Fellows.
- Role extended over City Hospital, Queens Medical Centre, and Kings Mill Hospital campuses.
- On call 8am - 8pm integrated with other members of Middle Grade staff, currently on a 1:6 basis, but that may vary. Input on 1 in 6 overnight on-call.
- Initially working with 2 Consultants as “Senior Registrar” until any training required is
- Supervision of daily working ward rounds.
- Supervision of Registrars and F1 doctors, with special reference to assuring the quality of discharge summaries and compliance with DVT prophylaxis.
- Once any training required is complete, autonomous clinics, and lists in day case and main theatres with Consultant supervision.
- Participation in Mortality and Morbidity meetings monthly, weekly Multidisciplinary Team Meetings.

- Vascular Surgery at NUH is a tertiary and regional centre for complex elective and emergency Vascular surgery.
- There is an 8 consultant team supported by 6 registrars and 5 specialists nurses, as well as a vascular scientist team
- Vascular Surgery at NUH is the hub in a hub-and-spoke model, with services provided at Sherwood Forest Hospitals (King’s Mill and Newark Hospital)

**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:

**Essential criteria**:

- (1) Registered with GMC
- (2) Basic medical qualification
- (3) Possession of FRCS/ MRCS from a UK College of Surgeons
- (5) Up to date and verified operative logbook
- (6) Clean UK driving license (for attendance at outlying clinics and operating sessions.

**Desirable criteria**:

- )Previous posts at senior registrar (CT 6 or 7) or Staff grade in surgery, vascular surgery an advantage though training will be given.
- Evidence of audit or research in vascular surgery

**Skills**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Ability to conduct independent ward round
- Good experience in general vascular surgery
- Able to conduct independent vascular clinics
- Can provide on call service.

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
