**The Mayor of London’s Operations Team is currently recruiting to a number of roles in our fast paced, dynamic team.**

**Principal accountabilities**
- Provide guidance and assistance to Londoners who have asked the Mayor for support, responding on a variety of issues through liaison with GLA Group organisations, local councils, Government departments and agencies, elected representatives, the voluntary sector and others to resolve matters.
- Gather information from Londoners to progress or close the case in a sensitive and confidential manner, handing cases over to other organisations where appropriate.
- Draft responses or respond to Londoners on any issues raised on behalf of the Mayor.
- Support the Mayor’s attendance at meetings and events related to casework or Londoners’ concerns through the provision of appropriate written and verbal briefings directly to the Mayor.
- Ensure cases are dealt with in a sensitive and confidential manner, and ensure records of contact with Londoners are kept, with details of each case by adhering to the Data Protection Act principles and the confidentiality of data respected at all times.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant guidelines/legislation as appropriate in dealing with casework and develop knowledge in specialist areas.
- Ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Mayor’s Office by helping to managing the day-to-day flow of papers, correspondence and briefing materials.
- Assist with the timely and effective response to mayoral correspondence; and help communicating the Mayor’s decisions.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in government, business, communities, both internally and externally.
- Realise the benefits of London’s diversity by promoting and enabling equality of opportunities and promoting the diverse needs and aspirations of London’s communities.

**Technical requirements/experience/qualifications**
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role supporting a politician or senior manager in a busy and complex environment.
- Proven ability to provide research within a political or complex business environment, on a wide range of topics, assimilate information and review correspondence in a political environment.
- Successful track record of researching a developing a diverse range of briefings within a complex political environment.
- Knowledge of understanding of the political landscape in London and the issues facing a major world city.
- Ability to prioritise work in a dynamic and ever changing environment.
- Understanding of the GLA’s commitment to diversity and equality.
