We are looking for an experienced **Health & Safety Officer** to join the team at SCHLOSS Roxburghe. This is a part-time position based on an average 24 hours a week.

For this role there is a **competitive salary of £16,798-£17,996k per year pro rata, plus gratuities* and excellent employee benefits**.
- *Gratuities (tips) are an additional charge added onto services and are paid to all employees on a pro-rata basis regardless of your role. The amount is not guaranteed and is depended on service charge paid._

The Health & Safety Officer will drive, support and advise on Health & Safety issues for SCHLOSS Roxburghe. Working alongside HOD’s, their main responsibilities will be to establish, manage, enforce and monitor H&S standards, processes and systems across SCHLOSS Roxburghe, ensuring guest and employee safety and wellbeing at all times.

**Your Key Responsibilities**:

- You will oversee and be responsible for all Health & Safety issues including Fire Awareness and Training throughout the hotel and estate.
- You will develop the framework for protecting employee wellbeing, avoiding incidents and safeguarding the business.
- You will establish, manage, enforce and monitor H&S standards, processes, communications, training and systems.
- You will be responsible for the Fire Training and fire awareness within the hotel, including but not limited to providing induction and annual fire training to employees and organising full fire evacuation drills.
- You will monitor our workplace platform Riskproof and ensure that daily checks are completed by the necessary operational departments.
- You will consistently review and update risk assessments across the hotel and estate and ensure any gaps for risk assessments are written.
- Develop and maintain safe working practices for the necessary equipment, machinery and processes for all departments.
- You will take ownership of all accident reporting in the workplace and investigations, and when required take ownership for RIDDOR reporting and liaising with HSE/other relevant authorities.
- Completing any incident related return to work forms and work adjustment/ assessments in conjunction with HR.
- You will work with HR to maintain H&S guidelines and induction processes for existing and new employees.
- Advise and coach HOD’s and managers on their H&S responsibilities and ensure they comply.
- You will liase with our H&S online platform Shield/Riskproof on a regular basis to make sure we use all tools at our disposal.
- You will maintain up-to-date knowledge of health and safety legislation and guidance.
- Support the strategic direction for H&S management and ensure there is the appropriate H&S, First Aid and Fire Training across the hotel and estate.

**Your Knowledge & Capabilities**:

- You are extremely organised with excellent time management skills.
- You have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
- You use your initiative and take a practical approach to problem solving.
- You have a key eye for detail and enjoy accuracy and precision in your work.

**Proven Experience/Qualifications**:

- Minimum 2 years practical experience in Health & Safety is essential.
- A recognised qualification in health and safety, such as a masters, NVQ, BSC or NEBOSH national diploma is desirable.
- Knowledge of HSE requirements & principles.
- Full clean UK Driving Licence.
- Previous experience in the Hospitality industry desirable.
