Court Thorn Surgery are looking for a Receptionist to work 21 hours per week, there will also the the opportunity to cover annual leave and sickness. The Receptionist role is for an enthusiastic, positive, self-motivated individual who can work both independently and as part of our growing team.

Our reception team meet regularly to discuss best practice and ways of improving our service; we work very closely with other teams within the practice and community.

In return we offer a friendly and welcoming working environment where you will be supported to develop your own skills, knowledge and experience.

**Main duties of the job**
- Greeting patients on arrival, handling enquiries effectively and efficiently.
- Receiving incoming telephone calls, ensuring appropriate actions, dealing with enquiries and taking messages as required.
- To make appointments and to cancel or re-arrange appointments as required.
- To explain practice boundaries, arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover, ensuring all procedures and paperwork is completed to a satisfactory level.
- Processing repeat prescription requests in line with the practice procedure, directing to other staff and appropriate pharmacies where required.
- To advise patients of relevant charges for non-nhs services received, accepting payment, recording money received and issuing receipts.
- To book, hand out and collect back items of equipment to be used by patients in their home such as 24 hr blood pressure monitors.
- Extracting and filing of medical records from central filing system accurately.
- Updating patient records both on the clinical system and in hard copy as required following change of name, address, phone numbers, next of kin and with any other relevant details
- Booking interpreting services for patients who are hard of hearing or require a language translation service
- Being aware of other external services that are offered
