**_What will I be doing? _**

We are looking for an enthusiastic intern to contribute to our high-profile Cancer Prevention & Services thematic area, supporting one of our key topics (workstreams) that is focused on Prevention Policy Research.

**Role and Purpose**

You will be part of The Social and Behavioural Research Team, supporting specifically with our high-profile Cancer Prevention & Services thematic area of work.

The Social and Behavioural Research (SBR) team conducts and commissions methodologically robust research and evaluation covering the prevention, diagnosis, screening, and treatment of cancer. Insights gathered from this research portfolio underpin CRUK’s vision and strategy and inform our recommended changes in health policy and practice, to improve the outcomes and experience for all.

Examples from our current Prevention Policy research projects include:

- Exploring how stop smoking services can be improved for people from low-income groups.
- Understanding the use and appeal of disposable vapes.
- Investigating young people’s exposure to, awareness, and views of tobacco, e-cigarettes, high fat, salt, and sugar foods, and alcohol marketing on social media.
- Exploring what interventions could support non-cigarette tobacco cessation in England

The Intern will also be an integral member of the SBR team during the placement, liaising with our researchers and managers and gaining exposure and insight to our full research portfolio and external partnerships potentially including an academic partnership we have with the Centre for Health Service Studies at the University of Kent. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet with other teams and departments based on your interests.

**_Key Responsibilities: _**
- Collaborating with colleagues across different departments.
- Supporting in the development of data analysis plans.
- Presenting initial results in meetings.

- Keeping up to date with relevant publications/research developments relating to the portfolio nationally and internationally.
- Supporting researchers throughout the process of commissioning research

**_What skills are you looking for?
- **

You’ll be able to bring to the role:

- Comfortable with interpreting research findings and placing them into a wider context.
- An understanding of research methodologies including literature searching, qualitative and quantitative research.
- An interest working with data and data analysis.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and with fixed deadlines.
- Ability to work with a variety of different stakeholders.

You’ll be eligible for many of our benefits, including paid holiday, and you’ll gain key experience to help you launch your career.

**_How do I apply? _**

**Application Process:
Once the roles are closed, you will then be invited to complete our situational judgment test. The test poses real life scenarios that a CRUK intern might be met with in their day to day role and asks how you would tackle that scenario. This is un-timed and multiple choice. Please let us know if you think you might require adjustments for this assessment.
