**Project Officer - Career Confident**

Cardiff University’s Student Futures division is recruiting a Project Officer, supporting the Career Confident programme.
- The post holder will deliver the HEFCW targeted employability support for students (Career Confident) Programme, carrying out supporting work, providing advice, guidance and support to both students and employers.
- The focus of the programme is to move the students closer to the labour market and help to put them in a position where they are able to compete for quality, sustainable jobs on an equal basis to their peers. One of the measures of success is the number of students who consider that their employability has improved as a result of the support.
- Students will access Student Futures support with a particular focus on work experience and employability support as a means to develop, articulate and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, attributes, and experience that employers look for.
- The post is full time (35 hours per week) and fixed term until 30 June 2024.**Salary**: £32,332 to £34,980 per annum (Grade 5)
- Standard working pattern applies however, due to the nature of this role, some activities take place on a Saturday and as such the post holder will be required to work Saturdays and out of office hours on occasions.**Date advert posted: Thursday, 20 August 2023**

**Key Duties**
- Provide professional advice and guidance on targeted employability support for students processes and procedures to internal and external customers, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate, and ensuring complex and conceptual issues are understood
- Ensure that the targeted employability support for students programme is delivered to the institution, proactively changing the delivery according to customer requirements. Customers will include University students, academic staff and employers.
- Ensure the targets and objectives of the HEFCW targeted employability support for students programme are achieved
- Establish working relationships with key contacts to help improve service levels, developing appropriate communication links with the University’s Colleges, Professional Service staff and outside bodies and employers as required
- Undergo personal and professional development that is appropriate to and which will enhance performance
- Develop and deliver workshops highlighting the benefits of taking part in the programme
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the department
- Instruct and guide other employees across the University on the benefits of the targeted employability support for students programme
- Collaborate with others in order to make recommendations for developments of established processes and procedures and support operation delivery
- Investigate and analyse specific issues within the targeted employability support for students programme, creating recommendation reports, supported by advances within Work Experience and employability.
- Create specific working groups from colleagues across the University to achieve HEFCW and Student Futures objectives
- Supervise specific project teams on an occasional basis to accomplish key objectives

**Specific Duties**
- Deliver work experience opportunities with local employers and within the University, write and deliver workshops to promote the programme within Colleges
- Screen participants to ensure correct participants are brought to the project, identifying their barriers to employment
- Measure students’ employability confidence using standardised instrument/s and employability tools
- Ensure all relevant checks are carried out such as health and safety inspections for all opportunities
- Ensure opportunities meet individual students’ needs and identify action plan
- Offer a full recruitment service which will include sourcing employer hosts, agreeing role description and objectives with employer and student, induction and monitoring of students, feedback from both parties and signposting to other services as appropriate
- Support students to reflect on their experience to secure learning, help them to decide steps to further improve their employability
- Assist Administrative Officer with claim and audit requests and ensure all relevant paperwork is completed, recorded
