Cardiff, United Kingdom Kaleidoscope Project Full time

Kaleidoscope is a pioneering substance misuse treatment provider, across the whole of Wales and the Wirral. We offer evidence-based treatment and holistic support to individuals who access our services.

**Role Purpose**:
Kaleidoscope is a pioneering organisation supporting people with drug, alcohol and mental health issues. As an organisation we recognise that many of the people we support are negatively impacted by stigma and that there is a lack of public awareness of the reality of substance use issues. The problem for many of the people we support is not helped by the social and legal situation people find themselves in. It is therefore important that we have a strategy of advocating for people. This role will be about positively promoting the people we help as well as influencing the public debate about substance use and advocating a harm reduction approach to supporting people. Kaleidoscope has a changing staff team and it is important that staff themselves are aware of Harm Reduction, part of this role therefore requires the post holder to be able to deliver training on this issue.

As a campaigns / communications officer we would expect you to have excellent written and verbal communication skills and will contribute to proof reading and providing content for any bid writing exercises.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- To design and deliver campaign strategies in line with Kaleidoscopes aims and strategic objectives.
- To ensure there is an awareness of the latest evidenced base related to Harm Reduction and this information is shared amongst the Kaleidoscope team.
- Collect and use data to inform new campaigns and the evaluation of existing campaigns.
- Devise integrated marketing campaigns with the aim of acquiring and retaining business.
- Write, edit and proofread copy for promotional materials within all campaigns, utilising in-house design packages where appropriate.
- To be available for proof reading for tenders and ensure we maintain as far as possible harm reduction principles.
- To lead on our social media strategy, communications, social media champions group and recommend the correct platforms for the Organisation or specific campaign. Including auditing administration of social media accounts and administrator rights/ access.
- To work with our service user communities, in conjunction with the Service User Involvement Lead and Service User Representative Group, so that Service Users have a voice in the larger public debate.
- To lead, write and deliver our internal and external communications strategies.
- To ensure we engage with the media proactively and reactively and ensure we have a dedicated group of staff confident and media trained, to talk to media if required.
- To work with a dedicated service user representative group who are trained and have the confidence to talk to the media about their stories.
- Provide monthly management and quarterly Board reports on campaign activity and effectiveness/ reach of these. The reports should highlight the outcomes of any activity undertaken, across all media platforms, data analysis on performance and a return on investment of each.
- To work with partners in establishing and coordinating conferences that highlight our work and promotes our campaigns.
- Support with any marketing activity or communication activities that will support in the delivery of any specific campaigns.
- Develop, manage, update and write content for the Kaleidoscope and associated website pages, where required.
- Report on web metrics (i.e. user traffic, online mentions, social media statistics) and analysis of this data for social media use going forward.
- Provide creative, editorial and operational support for key projects and campaigns.
- Build the profile of the charity through local and regional media, forums and networking groups.
- Identify key media contacts (Including on-line, printed press, trade journals) and build and maintain contacts and relationships.
