**The Company of the Finance Director**
A Finance Director is sought by a leading UK engineering services group. This fast-expanding business is responsible for project and services delivery across a broad range of blue chip clients. Integral to on-going success is the introduction of a newly createdFinance Director role to ensure strong financial control and strategic direction for the business. The MD seeks a qualified accountant with experience in the construction or engineering services sectors to drive the impact finance has on the business and supportcontinued growth over the next 3-5 years.

**Key Responsibilities** of the Finance Director
- Developing effective relationships with other Departments and the Board of Directors including Joint Venture Companies
- Drive efficiencies in the month-end process and managing a small finance team
- Provide accurate and timely reporting for group parent company
- Completing the monthly financial statements and accounts, including month end and year end consolidated reports, balance sheet reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance for all subsidiaries and JV’s
- Prepare and present financial information papers for the Senior Management Team
- Provide business and commercial financial analysis on acquisition opportunities
- Managing the team to ensure timely and accurate preparation of weekly cashflow forecasts
- Supporting the preparation and updating of monthly commercial/ financial budgeting/ forecasting
- Supporting the recording of Bid Pipeline/ Secured sales and reporting monthly movements
- Reporting to stakeholders including commentary on material variances and Opportunities/ Threats alongside Key Performance Indicators
- Ensuring timely and efficient delivery of Group Management Information
- Developing best-practice and driving an iterative increase to efficiency and management information
- Ensuring accounting standard adherence for financial transactions and reporting
- Year End Audit pack and Statutory Accounts preparation, including liaising with External Auditors
- Corporation Tax computation and liaising with External Tax Advisors
- Oversee Payroll and VAT/ CIS Returns

**Skills & Attributes** of the Finance Director
- Qualified ACA, CIMA or ACCA with experience of the construction or engineering sectors
- Positive and constructive outlook with excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrable experience of driving cross-functional relationships
- Powerful analytical thinking and problem-solving skills; being able to work effectively under time pressure with a hands-on approach
- Excellent communication skills, with a flexible and approachable manner; both written and verbal, for preparation of and delivery of reports and analyses
- Experience within a fast-growing SME would be highly advantageous, coupled with a strong desire to be part of the decision-making within the business
- Show successful leadership skills, being a natural communicator who can influence and negotiate with finance and non-finance at all levels
- Able to coach non-financial managers to ensure financial consequences of all decisions are fully understood
