Learning Support Assistant

Looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference in the lives of young people with autism? Look no further than this Learning Support Assistant role in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire.

This role is perfect for anyone who is passionate about education and enjoys working with children with special educational needs. You will be joining a mainstream school with excellent SEN provision, where you will have the opportunity to work with a rangeof students who require additional support. Specifically, the role will involve working closely with students on the autism spectrum.

The school is open to bringing in LSA's with little or no experience, as they are committed to training and developing their staff. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will receive the training and support you need to be successful in your role.

The role is full-time and starts ASAP, with a pay rate of £90 per day. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in a school setting, and to make a real difference in the lives of young people with autism.

Key responsibilities:

- Provide 1:1 or group support to students on the autism spectrum, including academic, social, and emotional support.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver tailored support to students with autism, using approaches such as visual supports, social stories, and sensory regulation strategies.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students on the autism spectrum, building trust and rapport with them.
- Monitor and report on student progress, and provide feedback to teachers and parents/carers.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of lessons and activities, and adapt materials as required to meet the needs of students with autism.
- Provide pastoral support to students on the autism spectrum as required, helping them to manage their emotions and build resilience.

Key requirements:

- Passion for education and working with children with autism
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to use visual supports and other communication strategies effectively
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, including the ability to collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour, including de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support
- Flexibility and adaptability, including the ability to respond to the changing needs of students with autism
- GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths
