**Job Overview**:
The UKRI Business Continuity Management (BCM) Team is part of UKRI Security and Resilience cluster, and works with the UKRI Head of Business Continuity and other relevant functions (e.g., Finance, Estates, H&S, HR, Risk) across the whole organisation to ensure that activities supporting the delivery of UKRI’s Strategy have an appropriate level of resilience.

**Purpose**:

- To aid the coordination of the UKRI’s Corporate Business Continuity Management Programme, reporting directly to the Head of Business Continuity and working closely with business areas across UKRI.
- The role will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of UKRI’s Business Continuity Management Framework (BCMF), facilitating and helping to embed business continuity good practice (in keeping with the BCMF) and for improving capabilities and building resilience, whilst ensuring that Business Continuity Risks are identified, escalated and improvement actions agreed.
- The role will develop a network across URKI and undertake frequent liaison with the business area continuity leads, to provide support and guidance on delivering BCM programmes in their respective areas.
- Deputise for the Head of Business Continuity in their absence or as required at meetings, workshops, etc.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Maintaining Effective BCM:

- Aiding the maintaining an effective, integrated UKRI Corporate Business Continuity Programme
- Supporting the pan-UKRI adoption and implementation of the UKRI BCMF.
- Providing advice and oversight on operational business impact analysis and business continuity risk assessments
- Ensuring UKRI maintains a robust and up to date set of Corporate Business Continuity Plans, in accordance with the requirements set out in the UKRI BCMF
- Support business areas to align operational response and recovery to the BCFM.
- Helping justify any additional investment required in resilience arrangements by helping to prepare investment proposals, business cases, budget proposals etc.

Coordinating & Supporting UKRI’ s BCM Activity:

- Supporting the management and oversight of UKRI’s Business Continuity Working Group, production of meeting papers and reports
- Maintaining constructive working relationships at all levels across internal and external stakeholders
- Providing advice, guidance, and being part of the review process for critical projects to ensure the resilience implications are given due consideration
- Working with BC Leads to undertake Business Impact Analysis and Risk Assessments and collating outputs to ensure consistency
- Aiding coordination of operational and tactical response during incident and disruptive situations.
- Supporting supplier BCM assurance activities
- Promoting continual improvement in the UKRI Business Continuity community.
- Management programme and ensure that it stays aligned with relevant regulatory expectations and good practice guidelines.

Assurance of UKRIs BC Activity:

- Monitoring the changing risk landscape that has the potential to impact UKRI operational continuity
- Aiding the embedding effective business continuity management
- Providing advice, guidance, and coaching in the delivery of the BCMF

Training / Exercising:

- Supporting the implementation of a UKRI BCM training and awareness programme
- Supporting the design, development and delivery of BCM training and ensure all relevant UKRI staff receive the necessary training
- Supporting the delivery of testing and exercises in accordance with the agreed schedule; and monitoring that corrective actions identified in post
- exercise reports are acted upon in a timely fashion
- Participating in relevant BCM networks to share good practice, lessons learned etc.
- Work closely with UKRI Disaster Recovery teams to ensure DR and BC cross over is tensioned.

**Person Specification**:
Essential
- Recognised BCM qualification and/or membership of a professional related body (e.g., MBCI) and experience of delivering BCM programmes in keeping with BCI Good Practice and/or related International Standards
- Effective communicator capable of engaging with management at all levels and influencing at senior management levels
- Excellent attention to detail, planning and, organisation skills
- Excellent report writing skills
- Excellent presentation skills with experience of facilitating meetings and workshops and, delivering BCM training and exercises at all levels
- Self-sufficient in use of office IT systems, including Microsoft Office, especially Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint and CGR

Desirable
- Educated to degree level or have equivalent relevant experience
- Knowledge of business continuity related International Standards
