**About the role***:
We have a fantastic opportunity to join our business Ansvar in Eastbourne.

To support the business plan in ensuring that underwriting is conducted within a robust, effective and controlled framework providing timely service and fit for purpose developments.

**Key responsibilities***:
Support the business in delivering business plan and achieving target Underwriting quality and standards in line with Underwriting strategy through:

- Developing and maintaining underwriting guides, procedures, technical training material to support delivery of the underwriting strategy
- Acting as a specialist referral point and coach, around procedures, policy wordings, reinsurance, underwriting guides and audit recommendations, supporting the business unit in ensuring that standards are met and technical expertise cascaded, meeting defined levels of service (SLAs)
- Developing and reviewing products as required by the business including wordings, product development and governance.
- Reviewing and developing free-format clauses drafted within the business
- Researching issues connected with policy wording development and escalating wordings issues to the wider business
- Working in partnership with Customer Services to enable underwriting of quality business within appetite and individual UW licence
- Understanding and operating within regulatory framework including ELTO, product oversight and governance, audit and DA management and identifying and escalating any risks to the business
- Undertaking Underwriting Development projects
- Conducting audits and acting as a quality and development representative for UW and reinsurance matters, liaising with all areas of the business and escalating risks as required

**Key performance indicators**:

- Underwriting result to plan using KPIs for COR, GWP, NIC, growth and lapse ratios
- Reduction in number of referrals
- Giving front line staff tools for achieving operational excellence and delivering to plan
- Increased performance in quality checking
- Delivery of assigned underwriting projects

**Knowledge, skills and experience**:

- Proven track record and detailed knowledge of general insurance principles through reinsurance, underwriting or claims experience
- Proven analysis skills and ability to submit balanced and well considered recommendations
- Ideally Dip CII qualified or commitment to achieve within agreed timeframe.
