Key Responsibilities To demonstrate specialist clinical knowledge and skills in order to provide a high quality clinical service to adults with acquired disorders of communication and swallowing. To demonstrate effective caseload management skills. To work flexibly across the key client groups, as required, to provide and maintain a responsive, client centred service. To work within a multi
- disciplinary framework, making a core contribution to the management of swallowing and communication and promoting the profile of Speech and Language Therapy.

To maintain effective liaison systems with others. In e.g. Health, Social Care, service user groups and voluntary agencies. To use a range of media; spoken, printed & electronic, to ensure the appropriate dissemination of information regarding clients management.

To attend multi
- disciplinary case conferences, ward rounds and other meetings.eg. family meetings, goal setting and discharge planning meetings. To maintain an informed, patient centred and proactive approach to client management, e.g. by signposting or providing information about other agencies or resources which may be beneficial to clients, their families or carers.

To provide direct and indirect clinical support and advice to Speech and Language Therapists and other colleagues in the multi
- disciplinary team. To contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of training for Speech and Language Therapists, other professionals, voluntary agencies and client and carer groups. To provide, as required, clinical education for speech and language therapy students and supervision for students from other disciplines. To inform senior speech and language therapy colleagues e.g.

Team Leads, of any issues relating to service planning or delivery, e.g. variations in workload, referral patterns, equipment needs. To take appropriate responsibility for the security, care and maintenance of equipment, including equipment loaned to clients. To be proactive in clinical governance.

To contribute to the use and further development of evidence based practice. To contribute to the development of clinical care pathways and policies. To maintain and develop links with other speech and language therapists by attending relevant CENs. To attend Speech and Language Therapy departmental meetings and other team meetings as required.

To demonstrate continuing professional development (CPD). To collect and submit timely and appropriate caseload data to the Trusts information systems. To adhere to the core responsibilities of Speech and Language Therapists as defined by the Health Care Professions Council and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
