**Job description**:
The Levelling Up Fund (LUF) is the joint responsibility of the Department for Transport (DfT) and Department for Levelling Up Housing and Communities (DLUHC) to deliver genuine local priorities for communities across all nations and regions of the UK, with funding allocated to areas that are most in need of levelling up.

The team are responsible for working with Local Authorities and other scheme promoters to deliver the 47 successful transport LUF bids with a combined value of over £1bn.

**Person specification**:
**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Engaging with, and building strong professional relationships with, stakeholders across the department, wider government, and local authorities to deliver the outcomes required from the LUF. This will include working closely with Centres of Excellence to manage specialist input, HMT and DLUHC on monitoring and reporting on key deliverables across the scheme, and Local Authorities when change control or assurance processes are activated.
- Supporting the project management of the LUF to ensure that government has a complete picture on schemes as they delivered, with a focus on achieving continuity programme-wide.
- Owning and shaping the governance and monitoring process for the Fund. This will include close working with the DLUHC Programme Management Office to fulfil requirements of managing a programme within the Governments Major Projects Portfolio (GMPP).
- Managing grant payments to local authorities by organising budgeting requirements with finance teams and making payments to schedule, tracking local authority spend on projects, and identifying any issues with payments and spend.
- Monitor and report the Fund’s spend by developing a process to streamline up-to-date and accurate records of actual and forecast spend for the wider team, programme board, SRO and Ministers.
- Scheduling work and resource management across the wider team, and in collaboration with DLUHC, to enable the team to work efficiently.

**About you**:
We are looking for someone who has exceptional communication skills and can express themselves in a confident and concise manner with colleagues at all levels.

You will represent the department in a professional and clear manner, ensuring key messages are delivered to both internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner.

You will have good drafting skills with the ability to produce high quality documents.

You will have experience of interrogating and identifying trends in data to support decision making.

You will be someone who naturally enjoys working collaboratively, and who can build rapport quickly with both internal and external stakeholders.

**Additional Info**:
A minimum of 40% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.
