**Job summary**:
As Great Britain's regulator for the energy industry, Ofgem exists to ensure a safe, secure and sustainable energy supply to British households and businesses.

Join us in a pivotal role as Head of the Market Intelligence team, situated within our Markets division. In this role you will spearhead our efforts to monitor and analyse the retail energy market. **Job description**:
If you are successful within this role, you will be part of the Analysis profession, in which you will be supported throughout your career with all aspects of professional and personal development such as training courses, upskilling and mentoring opportunities to help with your career progression throughout your tenure. After the initial deployment, you will have the opportunity to work flexibly across Ofgem as a member of your Profession, working on cross-Ofgem projects and/or in teams that require your skills and expertise.

**Key Responsibilities**

Leadership
- Effectively manage team’s resources through prioritisation, allocation of tasks and identification of skill gaps in relation with workload.
- Ensure colleagues and stakeholders have a clear understanding of the team objectives, activities and time frames.
- Build and maintain a supportive and inclusive environment for all team members.
- Effectively cascade the organisation’s strategic objectives to the team and motivate team members to be fully engaged and dedicated to their role.

Analytical
- Oversee the implementation of processes needed to regularly monitor and analyse market evidence, including handling large data sets, running existing activities and issuing new information requests to third parties.
- Oversee the external publication of retail market competition indicators.
- Oversee the internal dissemination of retail market intelligence updates and insights for the benefit of senior managers and other colleagues across Ofgem.
- Direct high-quality research and proactively identify applicable evidence to assess the impacts of retail policies and regulation on the market and consumers.
- Identify opportunities to use analysis, including developing new frameworks or using established ones, to progress decisions.
- Oversee written deliverables (internal and external) such as analytical reports, briefings to senior managers and regulatory decisions.
- Oversee the delivery of specific unplanned requests concerning the teams’ data sets.
