**Job description**
- 1**Intelligence Operator**

To provide a specialist role within the Intelligence Management Unit, including delivering a high level of expertise in all areas of PNC functionality and management, 24/7 intelligence support to the wider organisation and the searching, inputting and dissemination of relevant data.

To provide a point of reference and contact for other agencies in relation to information required for PNC reports i.e. DVLA for disqualified drivers.

To provide an out of hours and live time intelligence support function

Prepare and deliver intelligence products to clearly and accurately inform decision making

To be an out of hours point of reference and contact for a variety of systems including ANPR, PND and Visor

Establish and maintain networks with internal and/or external partners at all levels of seniority to ensure appropriate information sharing in support of a timely response and to achieve shared objectives. To receive, process and assess intelligence submissions ensuring that they are prioritised, linked and actioned where an appropriate operational response is required.

Adhere to all legal frameworks, key working principles, policies and guidance relevant to the role to ensure information and intelligence is handled and processed legally.

Maintain awareness of innovation within intelligence to ensure implementation of latest techniques and tactics, best practice, and information relevant to the role.

For the post holders level of responsibility ensure that all; arrangements, activities, equipment, supervision and staff health, welfare and training are complied with as fully detailed in the Health and Safety Policy

**Experience, Qualification and Skills**

Prior Education and Experience

**Essential**:

- Educated to level 2 OR some experience of working in the criminal justice system
- Post Holder to have attained the Intelligence Officer accreditation under the Intelligence Professionalisation Program (IPP) from the College of Policing or be prepared to work towards achieving it within 12 months of the commencement of their post.

**Desirable**:

- Prior knowledge/experience of PNC, PND, Niche and other relevant systems
- Prior knowledge/experience of the criminal justice system and relevant legislation

**Skills**
- The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- The ability to conduct research and analysis, including the interpretation and presentation of information
- The ability to problem solve and work independently
- The ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritise tasks and work on own initiative
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Develop strong working relationships inside and outside of the team to provide support and maximise performance.
- Take personal responsibility for own decisions and actions, act with integrity and professionalism and ensure professional knowledge is current.
